Dance Team

 

CONGRATULATIONS!

 

 

We welcome you as you join the Fort Myers Riptide Dance Team.  Our team consists of only the best and brightest High School students…we look forward to adding you to our great group of girls!

 

Some important information you will need to know as you begin this program:

 

PRACTICES

Members of the dance team will take a scheduled class as one of their electives during the school year.  Talk to your advisor about altering your fall schedule as necessary.  In addition, during football season the dance team will practice every

                        Tuesday evening from 3:45 –5 and 5:30-8:00 pm

                        Thursday afternoon from 2:20 – 5:30 pm

Additional practices will occasionally be called with ample advance notice before competitions, parades, and special events.

 

IMPORTANT DATES

The team can only look good when all members are present and accounted for.   Please clear your calendar to ensure that no family vacations will be taken during any performance.  Please check www.fmhsgreenwave.org for calendar dates.  The site will be updated shortly.

 

 

MANDATORY SUMMER BAND CAMP – This does include dance team as you are a part of the marching band. 

ALL dance team members must attend band camp.  Practice will begin on Friday, August 13th and runs through Thursday, August 19th.  Arrive at the Fort Myers band room promptly at 8:30 am and be prepared to stay until 4:30 daily.  Bring water bottles and suntan lotion!

 

EXPENSES

Each girl will be billed an amount of $150 at the beginning of the school year to cover the cost of dry-cleaning a uniform that will be issued in their name.   Every girl has the opportunity to earn the necessary expenses through fund-raisers, car-washes, etc.  No one will be denied due to finances.  See Mr. Dahlberg if you have financial concerns. 

 

ATTIRE    (does not apply during band camp)

Before and during performances, all dance team members are expected to look as professional as possible.  Please remember that you are representing the entire school when wearing your uniform.  Be prepared to …

                                    Have a clean uniform and shoes

                                    Beige tights with no runs or snags

                                    No jewelry of any kind

                                    No nail polish

                                    Tasteful makeup

                                    Hair away from the face with no bangs showing

                                    A SMILE at all times

BOOSTERS

Where would we be without our band boosters?!?  Encourage your parents to become active in our Green Wave Music Booster association.  Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 6:00pm in the band room.  Everyone is welcome!
